Future Leadership Vallejo Program
Launched in 2022, the Future Leadership Vallejo Youth Program is an initiative developed by Class 14 Leadership Vallejo participants to engage Vallejo youth in developing critical leadership skills and gaining deeper understanding of our community. High school sophomores and juniors participate in a 5-month program covering five areas: Communications and leadership skills; Vallejo’s Past, Present, and Future; local government involvement; public safety; and human services. Activities include hands-on leadership training, field trips, and active conversations with local Vallejo officials and community leaders. Meetings are held once per month on Saturdays, from 9 am to 1 pm, at different locations in Vallejo. 2023 Meeting dates are May 13th, June 10th, July 8th, August 12th, and September 9th. Students can potentially gain school required community service hours through participation in the program.
The 2023 program application is available here.
Youth participants in the Program commit to the following:
1. Providing one’s own transportation to and from meetings (in Vallejo)
2. Attend ALL Future Leadership Vallejo Youth Program Meetings
3. Arriving to meetings on time
4. Actively engaging in conversations with session participants and guests
5. Making a short presentation about the experience, or participating in a community service project, by the end of the program
Students will need to attend at least four meetings to be eligible to graduate from the program and to receive a certificate of completion.
